A Brief Introduction
Camp Encourage offers a quality overnight camp opportunity involving relationship development, recreation, and relaxation and is specifically designed to meet the needs of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. Key components that make Camp Encourage unique include but are not limited to:
In the summer of 2008, Camp Encourage launched its initial session, targeting youth ages eight through eighteen. Our second and third year will focus on the same ages and will be a four day, three evening experience. Our future hope, however, is to expand camp services to meet the needs of young children through adults. We are eager to see what the future will bring.

Camp Encourage offers a quality overnight camp opportunity involving relationship development, recreation, and relaxation and is specifically designed to meet the needs of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. Key components that make Camp Encourage unique include but are not limited to:
- direct social instruction
- sensory supports
- visual strategies
- positive behavioral supports
- the involvement of graduate and doctoral students
- peer models
- ropes course and/or zipline
- traditional camp activities such as horseback riding, archery, fishing, swimming, hayride, participating in art activities, and singing by the campfire
- activities tailored around the individual campers' interests (past offerings have included lego construction, theater, knitting, yoga, Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments, Star Wars trivia, and more)

We are tremendously eager for Camp Encourage 2010 as we gear up for our summer session which is right around the corner. Looking forward to seeing past campers and volunteers AND looking forward to meeting new friends!

FIRST FRIDAY concert by local singer-songwriter to raise scholarship funds was a success

An enormous THANKS to those that came to Czar Bar on June 4th in support of our scholarship fundraising efforts (and to those that donated in honor of the event)! Through your kindness, we amazingly collected over $1700 that will be doubled through our participation in the Camps For Kids campaign and will be given to families in need of scholarship assistance.

Campers Selected for 2010

Campers were selected through a lottery process in early April. We are tremendously excited about the forty campers that will be attending Camp Encourage, scheduled for JULY 28th through 31st! If you are the parent of a camper that is interested in attending yet have not applied, we strongly encourage you to proceed with completing and submitting a Camper Interest Form as soon as feasible. This will allow your child to be placed on the waiting list and potentially attend should cancellations occur.
