Hello, summer!

Summer days have started. School is out, the days are warming, days at the pool are increasing in number, and vacations are planned. Summer can be a joyous time yet also a stressful time of unstructured moments and a longing for routines that only a school year can provide.

We, at Camp Encourage wait for this season all year–knowing how much goodness it will bring to so many (and how much goodness we will receive in return). We hope to provide structure to your summer by offering our overnight camps–providing a space to relax, have fun, learn new skills, and simply “be a kid.”

For the past several months, we have been joyfully preparing all details for both of our four-day overnight camp sessions. Supplies are now ready, menus are set, the schedules are nearly finalized, and hundreds (yes hundreds!) of volunteers are in place. As of last week, our new Program Coordinator, Aimee Gorrow started working each day. Despite being tossed in during the busiest season, she brings a constant calm, sweet presence, ready-to-jump-in attitude, and excellent skills and expertise. Our Behavior Specialists, Kristi Loftus and Sandy Smith have been preparing positive behavior supports and gathering information on how to best provide individualized supports. We’re ever SO fortunate to have this sweet trio!

For those of you counting down the days until your summer session, don’t hesitate to reach out. Although we flood you with details in advance, we realize many questions may still flood one’s thoughts–especially for those experiencing Camp Encourage for the first time. We are just a call (816.830.7171) or an email away!
