Our 7th annual An Evening With the 'Rents stand-up comedy benefit was VIRTUAL for all the world to see and it was our most successful yet!
An Evening with the ‘Rents 2020 was rescheduled for Friday, September 18, 2020 and raised more than ever (over $25,000!)!
‘Rents typically gathers roughly 400 individuals and because we were not certain how the months leading up to the event would unfold, we didn't want to take a risk that would jeopardize the health of our guests and camp family. Due to those factors, we shifted this year’s An Evening with the ‘Rents show to a virtual performance.
The comedians were flexible, a videographer stepped up to capture each comedy from his or her home, and the show went on. Sure, it wasn't the same. We missed sharing laughter in a stunning theater with 400 others. But it was still grand and it provided all ticket holders with a much deserved night of laughter and joy. Some guests hosted a watch party in the comfort of their home--gathering with a small group of friends and loved ones. Others preferred to stay in flannel PJs and cuddle up under cozy blankets to laugh the night away solo.
Here’s the best part...this year’s show was not only available to those able to attend in the Kansas City area but, it was able to be viewed by those around the globe!
The An Evening with the ‘Rents 2020 virtual show was only available to ticket holders and will not be released at a later date.

ABOUT THE EVENT
This is a one-of-a-kind, laughter-filled fundraiser! What makes An Evening with the 'Rents unique is that the comics are all individuals, siblings, or parents of children or adults with autism spectrum disorder. For months, they work alongside local comedians to craft their very raw life experiences into hilariously touching stories that promise to encourage and enlighten you.
Whether you have a personal connection to individuals on the autism spectrum or not, An Evening with the 'Rents is so much more than a benefit. It creates an electric atmosphere where everyone can leave their troubles at the door and experience freedom and community through laughter.

SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR SPONSORS
With over 400 virtual guests, An Evening With the 'Rents provided a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate to the community that they value the lives of youth with autism (and appreciate the value of a good chuckle).
Because 2020 was such an unexpected year for our nonprofit, the below sponsors were especially appreciated. Our campers with autism thank them abundantly!
Should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Bekah at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.campencourage.org for more information about our nonprofit's meaningful mission.

We send abundant thanks to each sponsor as well as each individual that braves the stage in front of the massive audience to share his or her story—sharing the joy and laughter in both the trials and goodness experienced.
We also want to thank Keenan Stump and Matt Braun, Speech Language Pathologists from New Balloon Therapy Services for creating this brilliant event in 2014 in support of Camp Encourage. Not only do they have a wonderful sense of humor but their hearts are full of love for those we serve. Keenan and Matt's dream for An Evening With the 'Rents was for it to be a grassroots event; that those participate pass the torch, providing support and friendship along the way.
Thank you ALL for supporting the mission of Camp Encourage and those we serve!
