November 23, 2020
2020 brought a year of patience, flexibility and learning new skills. After making the heart-wrenching decision to cancel camps this year, our programming staff sought to bring the magic of camp into the homes of our campers. We introduced brief weekly videos demonstrating activities that might have been done at camp sessions for campers to complete at their leisure at home and held weekly and bi-weekly Zoom sessions for campers to connect with other campers and volunteers.
Based upon feedback from the recent survey sent to all camp families, we have made a few modifications to our virtual offerings. Effective immediately, the following changes will implemented:
- The bi-weekly Zoom sessions with current campers and volunteers will discontinue. Per feedback from the survey, the majority of our campers are experiencing “Zoom fatigue” due to virtual learning and do not wish to participate in further Zoom sessions.
- The weekly Zoom sessions with alumni campers and adults with ASD (those over the age of 18) WILL continue to meet. There will be no change to this programming.
- Our staff created more than 30 videos that can be found on the Virtual Programming page of our website. We will sporadically repost these on our social media pages. In addition, you may access them anytime from the website.
We hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday season and look forward to resuming in-person camp activities once it is deemed safe.
